Oakmont Carnegie Library Pop-Up Food Pantry

The Oakmont Carnegie Library’s Pop-Up Food Pantry provides shelf-stable food items for anyone in need. This community project is built on kindness — give what you can, take what you need.

This program is intended to solve immediate needs while SNAP benefits are unavailable and to facilitate neighbors helping neighbors and building community.  This project relies on free will donations and is meant to fill the gaps that exist between local food bank hours of operation. 


How It Works

  • Where: Main floor near the fireplace 
  • When: The Pop-Up Pantry will be available beginning Monday, November 3rd during regular library hours. 
  • Donations: We will begin collecting donations immediately. Drop off at the library front desk during regular library hours

Donations Accepted

Shelf-stable, unopened, and unexpired food only:

  • Canned goods (soup, fruit, vegetables, tuna, beans)
  • Boxed or bagged dry goods (pasta, rice, cereal, oatmeal)
  • Peanut butter, jelly (plastic jars preferred)
  • Shelf-stable milk (boxed or plant-based)
  • Snack items (granola bars, crackers)
  • Baby food and formula

Please do not donate:

  • Perishable or refrigerated foods
  • Homemade or home-canned items
  • Expired or damaged goods
  • Items in glass containers

Donations may be dropped at the front desk during regular library hours.


Using the Pantry

  • Take what you need — no registration or ID required
  • Please leave the area neat for the next visitor

Safety and Oversight

Library staff monitor and tidy the pantry regularly. Expired or damaged items will be removed.
The Library is not responsible for the condition of food items or any adverse reactions.
