The Friends Of the Oakmont Library (FOOLs) is a non profit volunteer organization founded in 1992.  The mission of the FOOLs is to support the Oakmont Library through the purchase of items not included in the regular library budget.  This support is made possible by membership dues. The money raised by your annual membership donations goes towards books, materials, and programs for children and young adults who use the Oakmont Carnegie Library.  Since its founding, the membership has purchased computers, a Wii gaming system, a TV and DVD player, as well as books, materials and equipment for cultural and educational programs offered in the community for all ages. Through past membership, the FOOLs were able to make a sizable contribution to the library’s expansion in 2005, as well as purchasing the large paintings that hang in the children’s area.

Meetings of the Friends of the Oakmont Library take place at the Oakmont Library.  All members and prospective members are welcome. Please contact the Oakmont Library at (412) 828 – 9532 for the next meeting date and time.

Annual membership can be as low as $5.  Applications for tax-deductible membership can be picked up at the library desk or accessed online here.

Our newsletter is mailed to members in early April, and is also available at the library.  This newsletter keeps the community up to date on present happenings and future events of our library.  See our current issue below.

The FOOLs won the Friends Group of the Year award at the
2006 Allegheny County Library Association (ACLA) Awards Ceremony!
